Yesterday I found out that all of the sites being hosted @ Servage hosting were down… I also got an e-mail by Servage. 

“We just detected compromised files inside your account, so we had to suspend it. UPDATE YOUR INSTALLED SOFTWARE!!!

We have investigated that your account had been compromised by an attacker that has placed malware in your account.Please make a COMPLETE and CLOSE review of your ENTIRE content and replace suspect files with fresh ones from trusted sources. Always keep 3’rd party software up to date to minimize the risk of security issues as good as possible. Regularly check your content so you might notice unauthorized modifications pretty soon yourself because when notes of this type get overhand we will charge an admin fee for our additional work “

And from there things got worse… E-mails back and borth. No help at first. Didn’t even have FTP access. Servage was like: fix it. Excuse me? Later they activated one ftp acccount. I could access my files at least…. hours of saving what could be saved. Database exports. Etc.

Here we are 12 hours later. All sites still offline. The plan I already had for couple of weeks, months perhaps: find another hosting company. This is the limit. If you ask me, such things can happen but…safety wise, backup wise and communication wise I doubt the company I’m dealing with after being a customer for over 7 years. In Dutch we say “daar lusten de honden geen brood van”. Not very friendly as well, especially taking offline like 6 sites I own. Just like that! Sorry? I don’t even know what happened! 

This morning: ordered a business hosting plan via another company. Expecting the data within minutes now. Very nice all these costs all of sudden…. not!
